Today, October 6th, is Instagram’s anniversary . The app that was born in 2010 to share “square snapshots with filters” is today one of the favorite social networks of users and one of the “must-haves” in the social media marketing strategies of many companies. In this post we review its history and the data to take into account to get the most out of it.

A month ago, Metricool presented the results of its study on Instagram , which analyzes 185,671 professional Instagram accounts, 1,856,089 posts, 6,761,264 stories and 279,479 reels.
One of the main conclusions is the reduction in the reach of posts and stories, and the growth of reels . The average reduction in reach for stories was 7.49% and for posts 22.35%. Reels achieve between two and twelve times more reach compared to feed posts.
Best formats to post on Instagram
Not taking into account reels, the star format is carousels , which outperform posts with images or videos in both interactions and reach (25.71% more reach than image-type posts).

In any case, regardless of the scope, each format can help us achieve different objectives :
Through reels you can make your Instagram account grow faster and reach people who don't yet know your brand. However, carousels, images and videos in the feed help generate interaction with your community.
Finally, stories are the format with the least reach, but they are important to maintain the relationship with the most loyal followers.
